Tour Description Sacred Valley

Visit the village’s colourful Indian market (lots of steps to reach), a bustling display of trade and commerce held in the main square. After lunch in Urubamba, drive through the enchanting Sacred Valley to the village of Ollantaytambo. The village was built on top of an existing Inca settlement and the original inca town. The Sacred Valley of the Incas was undoubtedly a key area of settlement to the Incas. Its agreeable climate and fertile plains make a rare and fruitful combination for the high Andes. It was also the route to the jungle and therefore an area with access to the fruits and plants of the tropical lowlands. The Sacred Valley served as a buffer zone, protecting Cusco from incursions of the Antis, the fierce jungle tribes who from time to time raided the highlands. Today the Sacred Valley remains a lush agricultural region supplying the city of Cusco with much of its produce such as maize, fruit and vegetables.

Located in the Vilcanota Valley, you will visit picturesque villages and beautiful valleys, impressive mountains and trails dotted with archaeological sites (max. Is 3800 m.a.s.l / 12467 ft.)
Sights:  Archaeological ruins at Pisac and the popular Pisac artisan market, Ollantaytambo archaeological complex, salt mines at Maras, circular Inca agricultural system at Moray (150 meters / 492 feet deep) and the archaeological ruins in the town of Chinchero.

We require a non-refundable trek deposit of US$150 per person. The deposit can be sent by a WESTERN UNION, PAY PAL, CREDIT CARD or to our PERUVIAN BANKING ACCOUNT money transfer. This is the fastest and most secure form of payment in Peru. The money transfer should be in the name of Cusco Expeditions,. Once you arrive in Cusco you must pay the remaining balance in cash prior to beginning your tour. We accept both US Dollars and Peruvian Soles (local currency).
